Overview
Perch is a calm new-tab dashboard that treats browser state as private local data.
Closing Becomes Safe
Named stashes let users save a group or all open tabs before closing them, then restore that context in one click. Undo close, saved-for-later, and an archive reduce the fear that usually keeps unnecessary tabs open.
Find and Organize
Open tabs are grouped by domain, with special handling for homepages, local files, localhost ports, native browser groups, and duplicates. A command palette searches across open tabs, saved items, and stashes from the keyboard.
Proactive Cleanup
Perch surfaces tabs untouched for seven days, can suspend inactive tabs to save memory, and supports bulk close actions. Live browser events keep the dashboard current while custom grouping rules adapt it to individual workflows.
Local by Default
There is no server and no account. WXT, React, TypeScript, Manifest V3, and browser storage keep data on the device or in browser-profile sync. Pure grouping and formatting logic is covered by unit tests, and builds target Chrome and Firefox.
